Naomi Lenchner

Naomi Lenchner is a third-year double majoring in Molecular & Cell Biology with an emphasis on Neurobiology and Psychology. She wants to pursue a career in Neurology and is passionate about sleep science, pharmacology, and neurodegenerative diseases. Outside of BMJ, Naomi is a research assistant at the Golden Bear Sleep & Mood Clinic. She has a background in journalism and a passion for writing, news, and politics. She loves spending her free time in nature, playing the guitar, and shopping.

Lily Zimmerman

Lily is a fourth-year studying Molecular and Cellular Biology. She is particularly interested in genetics and developmental biology and is passionate about science communication. She hopes to eventually go into Medical Writing. Outside of academics, she likes climbing, hiking, playing guitar, and going to concerts!

Irmak Atilgan

Irmak Atilgan is a second-year student intending to double major in Business Administration and Molecular & Cell Biology with an emphasis in genetics. She aspires to develop gene editing technologies to treat human diseases and is also interested in the development and administration of these treatments outside of the lab environment. In her free time, Irmak enjoys watching sitcoms, going on walks, and crafting.

Crystal Chu

Crystal Chu is a third-year student intending to double major in Public Health and Molecular and Cell Biology with an emphasis in Medical Biology and Physiology. She is passionate about critical care medicine, public health, oncology, and pediatrics, and her career goal is to become a pediatrician! She likes running, reading in cafes, and building legos in her free time.

Luiza Flynn

Luiza Flynn is a Senior studying Nutritional Sciences with a concentration in Physiology and Metabolism with hopes to pursue a career in Preventive Medicine and Metabolic Biology. Her love for food and well-being has cultivated a passion to understand how lifestyle impacts human health in efforts to one day be a scientist that can help Americans prevent chronic disease to achieve longevity in lifespan. Outside academics, she is a dancer and loves listening to music, being outdoors, and playing her guitars. 

Aria Kim

Aria Kim is a second-year student intending to double major in Microbial Biology and Sociology. She is interested in microbial genomics, genetic engineering, bioethics, and sustainability! She hopes to pursue a career in biotech, aiming to contribute to advancements in medical technology and promote global healthcare accessibility. In her free time, she enjoys thrifting, going on walks, and doing the NYT mini. 

Emilie Morales

Emilie Morales is a second-year intending to major in Nutritional Sciences: Physiology and Metabolism and minor in Music. She hopes to attend medical school and later pursue a career in internal medicine or psychiatry. She’s most passionate about public health, mental wellbeing, and pediatrics. Outside of school, she enjoys binge-watching anime, making Pinterest boards, and going on late-night boba runs!

Srijani Sarkar

Srijani is a third-year student at Cal double majoring in Molecular Environmental Biology and Cognitive Science. She is interested in artificial intelligence, environmentally sustainable practices, and hopes to pursue a career in Neurology in the future. She is also passionate about disability awareness and inclusivity, and works in special education as a Behavioral Therapist. Outside of academics, she enjoys playing basketball, lacrosse, going to concerts, and lifting weights.

Olivia Sumerfield

Olivia Sumerfield is a fourth-year Molecular and Cellular Biology major with an emphasis in Cell and Developmental biology. She’s consistently floored by the ingenious science involved in methods of contraception and assisted reproduction, and is unendingly fascinated by the human reproductive system. She envisions herself primarily as a lifelong learner and educator, hopefully in the role of a physician. When she’s not in the classroom, you can find her either at the Berkeley Marina where she teaches and enjoys windsurfing, wearing a bright red sweatshirt and cheering on the 49ers, or reading a rather heinously sappy romance novel. 

Field of interest: Reproductive health, including male contraception, assisted reproduction, and rural women’s healthcare

Yichen Zeng

Yichen is a third-year intending to major in Rhetoric, Computer Science, and MCB. Though he has yet to decide upon a specific medical specialty to pursue, he is extremely interested in the implications that advancements in computational biology and computer science as a whole have on the field of medicine and the role of a physician in a transforming world. In his free time, he loves to write short stories and arrange orchestral music.
