Irmak Atilgan

Irmak is a third-year double-majoring in Molecular Biology & Business through the LSBE program with a minor in Data Science. She plans on developing gene editing therapies for the treatment of heritable diseases and being involved with their commercialization. Outside of BMJ, Irmak is interested in fashion design and cooking.

Emilie Morales

Emilie is a third-year student majoring in Nutritional Sciences and minoring in Public Policy. Her career goal is to become a physician in Gynecology and Obstetrics, or work in local/federal government to improve health policy. Her main interests are pediatrics, gynecology, health policy, HIV treatment and prevention, and minority health. Outside of BMJ, Emilie enjoys doing arts and crafts with friends and trying to find the best matcha in Berkeley!

Jaina Gandhi

Jaina is a second year double majoring in Molecular & Cellular Biology (with a concentration in Molecular Therapeutics) and Data Science, pursuing LSBE. Her interests lie in the realm of all things genetics, with applications in neuroscience and synthetic biology. She hopes to go to med school post grad and specialize in pediatrics.

Justine Leparmentier

Justine is a third-year neuroscience major minoring in data science. She hopes to pursue a career in neuro-engineering and specifically study medical applications of neural brain organoids. Outside of academics, Justine enjoys running, trying every trader joes snack, and meeting new people.

Manahil Rehman

Manahil is a sophomore majoring in bioengineering. She is hoping to pursue an MD/PhD working on research in medical devices. In her free time, she enjoys hiking and trying new restaurants!


Samantha Low

Website & Publications Committee

Samantha Low is a second-year at Cal studying Nutritional Science with a concentration in Metabolic Biology. She is fascinated by the gut microbiome, human metabolic pathways, and is especially passionate about the role of public health in improving health outcomes for expecting mothers and newborns. In the future, Samantha plans to pursue a career in maternal/fetal medicine. Outside of academics, she enjoys reading by the beach and exploring San Francisco.

Anisha Shukla

Anisha is a sophomore studying bioengineering on the pre-med track. She is passionate about research and writing, and she is involved in BMJ, AMSA, and ISA on campus. In her free time, she enjoys running, finding the best food spot in Berkeley, and going on long drives!
